Athletics Round Up
Cowbridge athletes took part in the Cardiff and Vale combined Athletics Championship at Leckwith Stadium on May 6th. Sadly the weather was not on the athlete’s side; however there were still some good performances.
In the middle girls competition (Year 10 and 11) only Year 10 Eleanor Lewis took part. She competed in the high jump, long jump, 80m hurdles, shot putt and 800m. Eleanor put in some solid performances throughout to come 8th place overall.
In the junior girls competition (Year 8 and 9) they competed in the same events as the middle girls but the hurdles distance was reduced to 75m.Year 9 pupils Megan Hodgson (pole vault specialist) came 7th with Jess Wadey (middle distance specialist) coming 9th. Brilliant performances by both girls. Charlotte Tudor was the first Year 8 competitor for Cowbridge coming 22nd, with Eve Mordecai 28th, Bethan Edwards 29th and Jessica Gregory 30th. 52 girls competed in all events.
Megan Hodgson, Jessica Wadey, and non-competing athletes on the day Jordan Meek and Brooke Langton Cryer have been selected to represent Cardiff and Vale at the Welsh Schools combined events on June 20th. We wish them the best of luck.
