Children in Need 2016
This year, we set out to make a real difference and substantial contribution to Children in Need; for us it was about raising money and awareness for those most deserving in society.
With this aim at heart, we ran activities throughout the week from Year 7 to Year 13; these were as follows:
- Year 7 and 8 partook in a poster competition – we asked the pupils to design and create a ‘Pudsey Bear’ themed poster, and were awarded prizes according to their success and hard work.
- Year 9 ran a cake design competition – like with Year 7 and 8, we awarded prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd to thank the pupils for their commitment to the project and their support for Children in Need.
- Year 10-13 were involved in a Wellie Walk – this was designed as a competitive and fun way to raise awareness and money for Children in Need.
Unfortunately, given the fantastic Welsh weather, the walk was unable to go ahead, however donations were still received from those who had planned to take part; thank you!
On Friday the 18th, a non-school uniform day gave pupils across the school the opportunity to donate and have fun for Children in Need. On the same day, we had a cake sale, which was also a resounding success; thank you to all those involved.
The 'Food Group', part of the School Council, did a fantastic job of raising £150 for Children in Need, by making and selling 'Spotty Cookies'. This was Lydia Hurford, Esme Jones, Helen Jenkins and Maddison Jagger. Well done!!!
Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to the Head Teacher, the staff and pupils for their continued support and participation throughout the week. It has been a huge success, raising a fantastic £1808.76, and we look forward to undertaking similar events in the future.
