Children in Need 2017

Children in Need Cowbridge Comprehensive School

On Friday 17th November, Children in Need raised a record total of £50.1 million; in Cowbridge we also broke our record with an amazing over £2,000 being raised this year!! The day in Cowbridge was kicked off with a non-school uniform day that was a huge success with all pupils donating £1 to wear their own clothes. It was great to see all pupils being so proactive and supportive of what is a very worthy charity. Who could refuse cake and biscuits, especially as it was for a great cause? Well, Key Stage 3 and 4 students baked hundreds of cakes which were then sold at break time to raise even more money for Children in Need. All the cakes sold out super quickly raising lots of extra money.

In Cowbridge we also held many competitions throughout the week in the lead up to Friday. These involved a guess the amount of sweets in the jar competition and also a raffle with some amazing prizes up for grabs. Years 7 and 8 also competed in a highly competitive design a poster competition. All the posters entered were amazing and it was difficult to decide on a winner. However, John David Tudor came 1st, with Eva Gough and Ben Davies coming 2nd and 3rd respectively. We would like to thank all students in Cowbridge for their support and generosity, which made Friday such an exciting and successful day.

Also, not forgetting the fantastic event held after school by two year 8 pupils Baz and Henry. They had a sumo wrestle and karaoke event that was not only loads of fun but also raised £195!! The Healthy Eating committee in Cowbridge played their part too in raising money; making and selling spotty cookies, which looked as good as they tasted!!
