Design and Technology Evening

Cowbridge Comprehensive School's canteen was transformed into a Moroccan restaurant last Thursday evening to celebrate the talents of its young chefs in Year 10. This annual event showcases excellent work produced by Cowbridge pupils in their study of Design and Technology, with guests invited to view products creates by Key Stage 3, GCSE and AS/A level students.

Opening with an impressive fashion show,models exhibited some spectacular garments created throughout the current academic year. Hair and makeup creations added to the artistry of the show, choreographed by students.

Guests took their seats among the Moroccan lanterns following the show, surrounded by fairy lights and greenery setting the scene for the gastronomical delights of the three course meal to be served. Diners enjoyed a starter of spiced butternut squash soup, followed by a main course of chicken served in authentic tagines. The meal was completed by a refreshing strawberry and rosehip pavlova for dessert. Head of catering, Mrs Evans, was also on hand to show pupils how to work, prepare and serve food in a professional kitchen.

Entertainment was provided by the music department, with accompaniment by the school's vocal group.

"The evening was a lovely way to celebrate the talents of pupils and marked the end of a successful and enjoyable year" stated Mrs K. Mallows, head of the Design and Technology department, who also went on to thank Mrs Pullen, Mr Edwards, Mrs Christopher, Miss Rees, Mr Wrigley, with additional thanks for Mr Colbourne, head of Music at the school, for helping to make the event such a success.
