World Cancer Day

This year the Cancer Charity Committees aim was to run an event, which invited donations from four different charities. The charities selected for World Cancer Day were: Cancer Research, Macmillan, Marie Curie and Latch in memory of Jack Griffiths. The school wanted to raise money for the selected charities, as well as awareness for their cause, the amazing work they do and the lives they benefit.

On Friday the 2nd of February a cake sale was organised for all year groups. It was a resounding success raising an impressive total of £222.46. As a result of these contributions Cancer Research, Macmillan and Marie Curie will receive a donation of £54.36 and Latch £59.36 as specific donations were given in the name and memory of Jack.

On behalf of the Charity Committee I would like to say a huge thank you to the Headteacher, the Head of the School Council Mrs Taylor-John and all the staff and pupils who contributed to the cake sale both in the making of the cakes and the donations. Thank you once again for your continued support and generosity and we look forward to taking part in similar events in the future.
