Year 9 ‘B’ County Netball Tournament

Match 1 v Bro Edern

We played against Bro Edern and it was a tough match.Poppy Jenkins(C) and Daisy Connolly (WD) played particularly well.We won 2-1 but it was a close game.We need to work on our speed as we were playing too fast and making mistakes.

Match 2 v Corpus Christie

Our team was not at its strongest because players weren’t getting into space.Cowbridge were making too many overhead passes which got intercepted; however, as we got to the end, the girls showed good skill and started to slow down.Steph Brownbill (GS) and Lotti Tudor (GA) made a good team in our goal third with the help of the other five players getting the ball to the semi-circle safely. The score was 4-2 to Cowbridge.

Match 3 v Glantaf

We need to watch foot faults but we are playing slower which is good.Poppy is always getting into space and trying to slow the pace down.Steph and Lotti scored. We need to make more of our opportunities in the circle as Glantaf score every time.We need to mark tighter too. However, Glantaf are a very tough team so considering that we played well. The score was 6-3 to Glantaf.

Match 4 v Llanishen

We still need to slow down a bit more and watch our feet and the accuracy of our passes. We keep getting faster.Lotti scored twice and then Steph once.We need to watch how close we are to the other player to avoid obstructions and penalties to the other team.Lotti scored again and Cowbridge won 5-0.

Match 5 v Plasmawr

We need to work at defence; our passes are stronger and more accurate and we are taking the match a lot slower and are thinking about our decisions.Lotti scored. The final score was 1-1. Cowbridge went through to the next round on goal difference.

Match 6 v Eastern High

We now played Eastern to see if we were in the playoff for the final four schools.A very tough game, where we found ourselves 2-4 up in the middle of the match. However, Eastern fought back and we finally lost by one goal 4-5.

Match 7 v Mary Immaculate

Our final match for the bronze position was against Mary Immaculate.A very rough game with lots of contact. We fought hard to eventually win 3-4.

Well done to all the girls who really played their hearts out all day.
