23rd March, 2020

I wish all in our community the very best of health and urge you to be kind, compassionate and endeavour to fill your everyday with small acts of altruism. This involves observing the requirement to restrict social contact as a matter of urgency, but at the same time do your level best to help those in need and keeping yourself safe. Remember that crisis brings out the best and worst in us all at different times. Try to be your best when others are at their worst.

Headteacher

1. School is now closed until further notice for any statutory provision

2. Staff will be manning a support service for any pupil who needs wellbeing support. This is not for academic advice and is restricted for emergencies to do with wellbeing

Please email your teacher directly if it is about learning. (see below 'Online Learning')

This service for wellbeing support  is available to all pupils and you can access this by emailing:

Please provide details of the nature of your situation and a contact telephone number. A member of the Senior Team will contact you as soon as practically possible and within the hours of 8am -4pm .

You may have to leave a message on the answerphone and once a member of staff has received your message he/she will endeavour to provide advice, support and sign-posting to relevant services as soon as practically possible.

In an emergency you must call 999 first and then you can call us afterwards if you need our support.

There will be at least 2 senior members of staff on-site between 8:30am and 3pm from March 23rd until April 3rd 2020, and any pupil who is in crisis or highly anxious can come in to school if you are unable to access the above. Should this situation change and staff no be available for the times and dates specified, the website will be updated accordingly.

B) Children 7-9 years of Front-line NHS and Emergency Service

2. From Monday 23rd March 2020, we will be operating a supervision service for the children of NHS staff and emergency (blue light) staff only. This must be by request and authorised in advance. We will not be accepting any children without prior request and authorisation in advance.

Even for these groups of workers it is of first principle that their children should be kept home if at all possible and only sent to the school if there is no safe alternative.
This supervision is restricted to those who do not have older siblings in the family who are able to look after them and where all other arrangements would make the continuation of work to the vulnerable in our communities, impossible or difficult.

C) Advice for Parents Working and Who Leave Children and Young People at Home Alone

D) 4. Online Learning

Details of how your child can continue with informal learning at home is on the school's website. Our staff will be planning some work for ALN students needing adjustments and unable to readily access the information on the School's website. e.g Visually impaired pupils. This will be forwarded separately to you in the post next week or via Google Drive. We will contact parents directly with the work for ALN pupils.

Pupils wishing for advice with academic learning can email teachers directly. The teacher will respond to you in normal school working hours if they are well enough to do so.

5. External Examinations

All examinations for the summer of 2020 are cancelled by the Welsh Government. This means that pupils due to sit GCSE and A Level examinations will not sit examinations and will be awarded a fair grade to recognise their work, drawing on the range of information that is available. Schools will be informed in due course, what this range of evidence will be and of the process for awarding. The link to the Qualifications Wales website which will provide this information to schools, pupils and parents is as follows:
