8th Annual Art Exhibition

The sun was shining again this year, when the Art and Design department, in conjunction with the Design and Technology department, held its eighth Annual Art Exhibition on Thursday 18th June.It was really well received by all who attended, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Cowbridge and Llanblethian Town Council.Everybody commented on the high quality art work on show, which included GCSE, AS and A2 level.

This year, Clare Parry, Head of Art asked the A2 level students to write a brief summary of what they hoped to do when they leave school and what they had particularly enjoyed about the Art and Design course. It is interesting to see the variety of routes the students are pursuing at higher education, including Architecture, Business Management, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture as well as direct entry Fine Art courses and Art Foundation.

A very strong bond is always forged between students and staff and we had several students who came back to view this year’s exhibition. In fact, former Art and Photography student Alex Rivett (who has just completed his second year at Winchester studying Graphics and specialising in Photography), came back recently to give a talk to our present Yr. 12 Photography students, who were enthralled.
