Year 9 News Day Project

Pupils in Year 9 have been finding out what it takes to be a TV journalist by taking part in the school’s first News Day project.

12 pupils spent two days producing television- style news reports on the issues that they think affect them the most.

They were also visited by BBC Wales reporter Matt Murray, a former Cowbridge Comprehensive pupil, who was able to talk them about what his job involves and how he got started as a journalist.

They covered stories ranging from the recent heat wave to the growing use of social media in school and even traffic problems on Cowbridge High Street.

Pupils spent time interviewing pupils, staff and even local residents while also filming shots that would help bring their news reports to life.

All of their reports were filmed and edited using their mobile phones.
